OUR COMMUNITY STAFF
Our
community staff work closely with the Practice but are not employed
directly by us. They are:
District Nurses
The role of the district nurse is to make an initial assessment of
the patient, their emotional, physical and social needs. If appropriate,
they can make referrals to other agencies. With this information they
are able to provide nursing and personal care and offer support and
advice. Messages for the district nurses can be left with the
receptionist.
Health visitors
The Health Visitors are primarily responsible for health promotion
of expectant mothers, the under 5s, and elderly and disabled people.
They can be contacted on 01753 888665.
Midwife
The community midwife is able to offer full care during pregnancy;
the doctor and midwife share the care of the expectant mother. The
midwife holds an antenatal clinic at each surgery.
Macmillan Nurse
Specialist advice on palliative care, support to patient and family
is available from the Macmillan nurse.
